Picasso. A Different Gaze

With 120 paintings, 105 drawings and 15 sculptures, all produced between 1905 and 1967, the exhibition produced in partnership with the Musée National Picasso in Paris covers a long period of time spanning all the stages in the Spanish master’s artistic evolution. The selection offers a new perspective on the artist’ role in twentieth century art, with a special focus on works unknown to the general public, not only for their rarity but for their ability to expand on conventional interpretations of his work.

Works on paper reflecting the artist’s most intimate side prevail, along with sculptures: two of the artist’s favourite techniques, rarely shown together.

The exhibition is organized by MASI, Lugano in collaboration with Musée national Picasso, Parigi

Museo d’arte della Svizzera italiana

The Museo d’arte della Svizzera italiana, Lugano represents the arrival point for a deep-seated revision of the cultural policies that led to the merging of the Museo Cantonale d’Arte and the Museo d’Arte di Lugano in one single institution. The museum has two locations: LAC offers events and exhibitions aimed at delving deeper into twentieth-century and contemporary art and its collections, while at Palazzo Reali the focus is on the history of the art of this territory, and the valorization of specific groups of works in the collections.
MASI Lugano’s main partner is Credit Suisse, thus confirming the institution’s historical commitment to art in Lugano.
